Client Diversity

Consensus Layer
Execution Layer

We operate minority clients to protect the validators we manage from a catastrophic slashing event as a result of a bug in a supermajority client.

Based on available data at the time of writing, it is very likely the Geth execution layer client is currently being used by a supermajority of validators. A software bug in such a client can lead to a catastrophic event resulting in a complete loss of staked funds. This risk is easy to avoid by running minority clients or multi-client setups which combine the output of multiple clients. We plan to transition to a more advanced multi-client setup in the coming months.

Server Locations

Our infrastructure is distributed across multiple locations, using a combination of cloud, datacenter and on-premise locations. In the months ahead, we plan to make use of distributed validator technology (DVT) to further improve Serenita infrastructure resilience against outages.

Client Versions

We maintain several non-production environments which we use to test the latest versions of clients before using them in production environments. This is done to ensure optimal reliability, stability and performance.
